It's All About Children and Families
Serving more than 400 children and their families every year The mission of Sequatchie Valley Head Start is to create a nurturing place where children, families, and staff can work through community partnerships to exceed Head Start's national goals.
We are the premiere* providers of pre-school educational services to 3- and 4-year-olds throughout a five-county area at the tail end of the Appalachian mountains in southeastern Tennessee. Our goal is to prepare each child for success in kindergarten and in life. We serve 377 children and their families with funds provided by the U. S. government’s Department of Health and Human Services. Our federal funds are supplemented with contributions from parents and from the local communities we serve. In addition to services for children, we provide many family-oriented services.
Our staff includes more than 100 teachers, assistant teachers, family service workers, nutrition workers, and administrators. Our director is Judy Graham.
*Sequatchie Valley Head Start has had the highest average ECERS scores of any licensed child care facility in Tennessee for ten years running.
